To meet rising energy demand and strengthen downstream processing capacity, Kuwait undertook a major expansion of its national petroleum refinery infrastructure. Project Description

The Kuwait National Petroleum Refinery Expansion is a large-scale industrial and energy infrastructure project focused on upgrading and expanding existing refinery facilities. The project included the development of new processing units, supporting utility infrastructure, and advanced safety systems to support higher throughput and improved product quality.

Given the complexity of operating within a live refinery environment, the project required meticulous planning, strict safety compliance, and seamless coordination among multiple stakeholders. JG Building Group contributed significantly by executing critical civil and structural works that formed the foundation for advanced refinery operations.

Scope of Involvement for JG Building Group

JG Building Group was responsible for delivering essential civil, structural, and infrastructure works required for the refinery expansion, ensuring compliance with stringent industrial safety, quality, and environmental standards.

• Construction of reinforced concrete foundations and structural supports for refinery process units, pipe racks, and heavy industrial equipment.

• Execution of civil works for utility systems including water treatment facilities, firewater networks, cooling systems, and drainage infrastructure.

• Development of internal road networks, heavy-load pavements, and access corridors designed for refinery logistics and maintenance operations.

• Construction of control rooms, substations, equipment shelters, and administrative support buildings.

• Civil interface and coordination support for mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.

• Implementation of industrial safety measures including bund walls, containment structures, and spill management systems.
