The most prominent example known for its innovative, integrated design is the JTC Logistics Hub @ Gul (JLH), developed by JTC Corporation, a Singapore government agency.

Project Description

 

JTC Logistics Hub @ Gul (JLH)

JLH is a landmark project in Singapore's Jurong/Tuas area, designed as a highly efficient, multi-storey, multi-tenanted facility to maximize land use and enhance productivity in the logistics sector.

  • Objective: To intensify land use and overcome land scarcity by integrating multiple logistics functions traditionally housed across different low-rise sites into a single, high-rise building.

  • Key Integrated Components:

    • Multi-storey Warehouses: High-specification ramp-up warehouse facilities with modular units.

    • Inland Container Depot (ICD): A dedicated, high-ceiling block designed for efficient container handling operations. This is often cited as the most innovative feature, allowing containers to be moved and stacked within the building.

    • Heavy Vehicle Park: Rooftop and/or dedicated floor space for the parking and stabling of heavy goods vehicles and container chassis.

  • Scale and Innovation:

    • The complex features innovative, space-saving design, including one of Singapore's first high-rise container depot facilities.

    • It adopted an advanced Integrated Digital Delivery (IDD) approach, leveraging Building Information Modeling (BIM), automation in pre-cast construction, and digital management systems to achieve higher productivity and accuracy during construction.

    • The total Gross Floor Area is substantial, providing significant capacity for the consolidation of logistics services, which helps reduce transport cycles and enhances operational efficiency for tenants.

The project is a showcase of Singapore's commitment to creating next-generation infrastructure to maintain its position as a globally leading logistics and supply chain powerhouse.

Scope of Involvement for JG Building Group

JG Building Group delivered comprehensive construction and infrastructure solutions for the Singapore Integrated Logistics Hub, a large-scale, multi-modal facility designed to support high-volume freight movement, advanced warehousing, and seamless supply chain operations.

  • Industrial & Structural Construction:
    Construction of high-bay warehouses, logistics blocks, automated storage structures, loading docks, and support buildings with heavy-load floor systems.

  • Multi-Modal Connectivity Infrastructure:
    Development of internal road networks, container handling zones, and connectivity interfaces with port, rail, and highway systems.

  • MEP & Building Services Coordination:
    Civil integration support for electrical substations, power distribution, HVAC systems, fire protection networks, and automation-ready infrastructure.

  • Warehouse Automation Readiness:
    Execution of structural and civil provisions for automated racking systems, conveyor networks, robotics zones, and smart logistics technologies.

  • Utility & Services Infrastructure:
    Installation of underground utilities including water supply, sewerage, stormwater drainage, and high-capacity data and communication ducts.

  • External Development & Traffic Flow Planning:
    Construction of truck circulation routes, parking zones, weighbridges, security checkpoints, and perimeter infrastructure.

  • Sustainability & Green Building Measures:
    Implementation of energy-efficient design provisions, rainwater harvesting systems, and sustainability features aligned with Singapore’s Green Mark standards.
